Verification Standards

How verification works at Solifacet

Before a piece lists, the founder personally goes to the seller, inspects the piece in person — it exists, it matches its description, its condition is as stated — and checks the certification/papers that come with it.

What we do NOT do (yet), stated plainly: melee diamonds and small accent stones are not individually lab-inspected. Inspecting each one costs more than the margin on the piece, so the industry standard is not to verify those individually. We do not claim otherwise anywhere.

If a piece turns out not to be as described, Solifacet handles it personally, case by case, and makes it right — including covering costs out of pocket when the situation warrants it. Customer service is founder-led, not a ticket queue.

What we're building (label this clearly as PLANNED, not current): a verification partner facility that will inspect every piece before it ships. Do NOT present this as already in place.

Analysis

Where Solifacet differs

Catawiki provides access to weekly European jewelry auctions reviewed by trained category experts, with strong EU consumer cancellation rights when buying from professional sellers. However, Catawiki's experts evaluate listings digitally rather than inspecting physical pieces in person before auction, and buyers must pay an additional Buyer Protection fee of approximately 9% on top of winning bids. Solifacet differs by providing transparent pricing with no added fees, where the founder personally travels to inspect each physical piece and check its papers before it is listed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions & Answers

Solifacet vs Catawiki — what's the difference?

Catawiki is a European online auction platform where category experts digitally evaluate lots submitted by third parties and add buyer protection fees to the final bid. Solifacet is a fixed-price marketplace where the founder physically inspects every piece in person before listing, with no buyer surcharges.

What does 'verified' mean on Solifacet?

On Solifacet, verified means the founder has traveled to the seller, personally inspected the physical piece to ensure it exists, matches its description, and reflects its stated condition, and reviewed its accompanying certificates or documentation. It does not mean every melee diamond or tiny accent stone has undergone independent lab analysis, as those stones are not individually tested.

What is Solifacet's return policy?

Solifacet provides a 3-day inspection window following delivery for approved claims involving counterfeit items or material misrepresentation, supported by valid proof. Change-of-mind returns are not accepted, as purchase terms are confirmed in writing prior to payment.

Can you return jewelry purchased on Catawiki?

On Catawiki, buyers in the EU/UK can return jewelry within 14 days of delivery if purchased from a professional seller (marked PRO). Items purchased from private sellers are final sale unless damaged or materially misdescribed.
